The wedding dress of the year

I can’t not to comment on Kate Middleton weeding dress. The rumors were true and on the wedding day the princess to be Kate, showed up at Westminster Abby in a dress designed by Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen’s label. It was modern and simple but a very elegant dress. The Duchess of Cambridge looked very natural. Sarah Burton can be called ‘the lucky one’. Designing the dress for royal weeding is the best PR exercise for her and Alexander McQueen’s house. Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was the most commented on dress since Princess Diana’s wedding. This wedding dress that was made of layers of soft, ivory and white silk was a huge success for both Kate and the designer.

Kate Middleton changed later in the evening and revealed her evening reception dress. The dress was designed by the same designer who designed the wedding dress and had a similar shape. It was a strapless white dress with an embroidered waistband. Throughout the day Kate proved that she knows how to look her best and I am glad that she stuck to her signature, natural looking hair. The second dress was more practical for dancing but still chic and elegant. I liked Kate’s evening look even more than the daytime one and the only thing I have left to say is ‘Well done!’

New Trend: Bare Midriffs

Cover, uncover, cover, uncover. Every once and a while we come across a trend that is completely opposite to what we are use to and prefer.  What I love about the trend is that it inspires us to cross the boundaries and wear clothes in the way that we have never done before. This new bare midriffs trend is not about exposing your entire stomach but it's all about showing just a little bit of skin.

S/S 11 runways were full of bare midriffs ranging from fully exposed stomachs to a tiny bit of skin. I am not sure about this look, but it will not stop me from trying and who knows, maybe I will love it.

Now it's time for the shopping. To avoid looking too casual, it is key to put together a high-waisted bottom and fitted top. If you fancy showing off a little more skin, feel free to do it. Remember, it’s not about how much you can show, but how trendy and chic a look you can get.

Society helped to fire Galliano

John Galliano’s anti-Semitic statements and the consequences has been the hottest news in the fashion world the last few days. The whole industry is talking about it and questioning whether House of Dior’s decision to let the designer go was too extreme and unnecessary.
The controversy began after Galliano allegedly insulted Geraldine Bloch and Philippe Virgitti at a Paris bar called La Perle, last Thursday (24 of February).  Later that week things heated up when a video emerged showing Galliano abusing two other women at the same bar in December.

House of Dior’s first decision was to suspend the designer. On the 2nd of March John Galliano, officially broke his silence and released a statement about the events. He claimed ‘I was subjected to verbal harassment and an unprovoked assault when an individual tried to hit me with a chair having taken a violent exception to my look and my clothing. For these reasons I have commenced proceedings for defamation and the threats made against me.’ He adds ’I only have myself to blame and I know that I must face up to my own failures and that I must work hard to gain people's understanding and compassion.’

Jazzkatze and pearls tights

What is the most amazing about Jazzkatze new A/W11 collection? In my opinion, definitely tights. The interesting looking tights with attached pearls can not be unmentioned. The colours of tights were different but the pearls stayed the same. It can be questioned how comfortable are those tights but there is no doubts that they are definitely brings attention to wearer’s legs.
The collections titled 'The Name of the Rose' is inspired by the novel written by Umberto Eco under the same title. Jazzkatze plays with the images of a rose as well as  a snow covered ground print. Key pieces include hooded coats and simple dresses. The catwalk show was like a novel, full of symbolism and mystery.

Natalie Portman in H&M eco-friendly dress

Natalie Portman appeared for a Vanity Fair party wearing an eco-friendly dress from H&M for a whopping price of $49.95. 'Black Swan' star accessorized the dress with gold heels and bangles on each wrist. The white cotton dress made out of recycled polyester is part of the clothing store's environmentally conscious line, which has been launched in March of 2010.

She isn't the only well-dressed star who wears well put together budget's outfit. Michelle Obama wore $35 H&M dress on 'Today' show two weeks ago. The First Lady went for a navy blue dotted dress.
