Models' nightmare became a reality

Clearly there was something wrong with the shoes! During the Fashion for Relief 2011 catwalk fund-raiser in Cannes models tumbled on the catwalk. Three of the models had a problem staying on their feet and fell over a number of times before managing to escape backstage. The crowd treated each stumble with good humour and supported the models. I felt sorry for the models, but to be honest it is very funny to watch and I could not stop myself from embedding the movie from the show into this blog. Besides dodgy shoes both the dresses and models looked beautiful. The event was raising awareness and funds for the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

Rise of Asian models

In the new Vogue I read a report about the growing popularity of Asian models in the world of fashion. The Asian beauty is slowly starting to be appreciated in the global fashion industry after many years of waiting. I found this report very interesting, because even though I have watched fashion shows and read fashion magazines regularly it has never struck me that there are very few Asian looking models. Lisa Movius described Li Ai’s story of how she has tried to break onto the international fashion stage for years and every time she has heard ‘We don’t want an Asian’. Thank god that this is changing and we can observe the shift of Asian models to the middle of the stage. My favourite Asian model at the moment is Liu Wen. She has dramatic cheekbones, which makes her stand out from the crowd. I am not the first person admiring her look.  In the autumn/winter 11’ season 18 houses choose her to represent their collection on their catwalk show. Here you have a few pictures of Asian models, hope you will like it.

Jazzkatze and pearls tights

What is the most amazing about Jazzkatze new A/W11 collection? In my opinion, definitely tights. The interesting looking tights with attached pearls can not be unmentioned. The colours of tights were different but the pearls stayed the same. It can be questioned how comfortable are those tights but there is no doubts that they are definitely brings attention to wearer’s legs.
The collections titled 'The Name of the Rose' is inspired by the novel written by Umberto Eco under the same title. Jazzkatze plays with the images of a rose as well as  a snow covered ground print. Key pieces include hooded coats and simple dresses. The catwalk show was like a novel, full of symbolism and mystery.

Lako Bukia at VFS, day 2

Lako Bukia presented the new A/W11 collection 'Choxa' on the second day of VFS during London Fashion Week. The collection is inspired by the Georgian National Ballet Men's costume of the same name 'Choxa'. On the catwalk designer presented clothes in palette of blacks, brown, grey, white, wine red and range of pastel colours. Key pieces include a black jumpsuit with leather shorts and chiffon top. Leather trouser in different colours are definitely 'must' in the autumn’s wardrobe. Lako Bukia collection of shoes for upcoming season is stunning. 'Signature heel' shoes and leather, high boots decorated with bullets are breathtaking.
